Roswell
ContestedRECORDEDINDEXED · RT-009
Debris found on a New Mexico ranch led the Army to announce a "flying disc", then to say it was a weather balloon.
What the record shows
- A 1994 Air Force report concluded the debris came from Project Mogul, a secret program of high-altitude balloons.
- A 1997 report explained later alien-body stories as dummies used in tests.
- Witnesses decades later gave conflicting accounts.
Claimed, but not shown
The claim that the military recovered an extraterrestrial craft has not been demonstrated.
Verdict
The official explanation (Project Mogul) fits the documents. Contested in popular belief.
